Jake Fruchey

Jacob Barrie "Jake" Fruchey, age 42, died unexpectedly Monday, March 11, 2019 at his home in Gowen. He was born December 27, 1976 in Greenville, the son of Barrie and Barbara (Hyler) Fruchey. Jake was a Master Electrician by trade and a farmer by hobby, and was proud of his work in both areas. Anybody who knew Jake knew he was full of charisma, stubborn, and more than a little passionate about all he did. He bred sheep, grew hops, tended his garden, made maple syrup, lived on an orchard, and truly loved the outdoors. He was also the unofficial Mayor of Gowen, and will never be forgotten. Jake is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kalsch Fruchey; sons, Robert, James, and David Fruchey and their mother, Sarah Fruchey; his mother, Barbara Fruchey; grandmother, Nila Fruchey; sisters, Dee (Colt) Jacobs, Rene (Mike) Jackson, and Nikki Hoople (Andy Hornbrook); mother-in-law, Marge Kalsch; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Barrie Fruchey; uncle, Chris Fruchey; and his grandparents. Memorial services in celebration of Jake's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hurst Funeral Home, Rev. Mathew Magera of St. Thomas Lutheran Church officiating. Everyone is encouraged to wear casual clothes (especially Hawaiian shirts) to celebrate Jake. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Barrie's House, and memories and messages of condolence may be shared at www.hurstfh.com.
